Colégio Farroupilha is the oldest institution of basic education in Rio Grande do Sul. It was founded 128 years ago by the German Beneficent Association, a non-profit- making organisation created to assist German immigrants and their descendants who were coming to southern Brazil. It caters for 2600 students from Nursery to High School with the mission of educating as to develop capable citizens, ensuring that the student is able to think and develop their own skills.
Values such as positive relationships, pursuit for excellence, discipline and organisation, efficiency and entrepreneurship and commitment to sustainability permeate the projects developed at all levels of education. In this way, Colégio Farroupilha remains faithful to the vision of being a reference in education, seeking to constantly update its practices and innovate in the way to educate children and youth. Colégio Farroupilha maintains partnerships with international student exchanges to Germany, England and Canada. It also offers language proficiency examinations in English as integrated part of its curriculum, following the methodology of the examinations of Cambridge English Language Assessment, part of University of Cambridge, as well as German international examinations.
It is maintained by a non- profit-making educational association called Associação Beneficente e Educacional/ABE de 1858, founded in 1858. Besides Três Figueiras unit, Colégio Farroupilha has also Correia Lima unit, located within the the Reserve Officers Preparation Centre of Porto Alegre (CPOR / PA), which cares for children and young scholarship holders.
From May 2014 the school institutional website will have more contents in English enabling more people around the world to know our institution and the main projects developed in the school.
